OPEN-SOURCE PATCH! :-P

Today i submitted my first patch to a open source project. Don’t get me wrong i have help here and there when i could. But i actully was able to figure something out and apply what i figured out myself. Who knows i may have done it all wrong but it works for me :)

Anyways now the diag module for OpenWRT some good people who have been making great custom firmware’s for the Linksys and other routers. I figured out which gpio attached to which LED on the WRT600NV11 and if you own one then you know its been kinda like pulling teeth to get any support for it on a custom firmware. Not anyones fault they are just so new and just now dropping in price were more people who write this stuff can afford it.

DD-Wrt actully seems to be a bit ahead of the pack when it comes to support for this device. And i find dd-wrt to be a extremely good firmware i run it on all my other routers. I just wanted to do something a little bit more with this one as it has USB Port on the pack so right now i have 1.9TB of storage attached to it. OH I almost forgot for those of you who know me i know you have seen them and probably commented on them. But i have these network storage devices really kinda crappy but look like toasters They are Netgear SC101 NAS Drives. I was able to last night get Linux thats running on my Linksys WRT600N to connect and use those so that adds another 1.6TB of storage to my network. The reason I’m so happy about this is that with my MediaGate MG-30 Devices hooked to my tv i can technically shutoff every computer in my house and still be able to watch/listen all the media i have stored. so i can take and put these little box’s on top of my frig or something and watch whatever without all the noise of a computer. Plus i think it will save me a little money on power. Not having to run a whole computer and these do spin down the harddrives so should be a good thing.

Honestly though i’m just psyched i did it :) Then run a little unionfs magic on my linksys box and some samba serverage :-P and all those drives look like one BIG network share very easy to keep in order and keep my OCD under control well i think thats enough for today.

Oh i did move the rest of me and my clients websites off of mosso today i love there service i just can’t afford it right now. I wish i could but what can you do.

Oh and i should have another 500G to hook up to the WRT600N in 2 days just noticed seagate sent me a email with a tracking number on a 500G i sent them to be replaced under warrenty i’m glad it was under warrenty because well i kinda broke it because of my stupid ex unsetting me and that just made me feel so stupid that i let it get to me that much. But not gonna dwell i did good today. I moved some websites and emails. Fixed my routers LEDs. oh setup this blog something else too just can’t remember what. Oh well

Here is a link to the wiki page i made about it :)
